All Eyes on the F-35

With current estimated acquisition costs approaching $400 billion, the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (F-35), also known as the Lightning II remains the Department of Defense’s most costly acquisition program. As a result, never has there been a program more in need of scrutinity. It’s getting that scrutiny with the GAO playing its role. Recently along those lines, the GAO this month released its latest report entitled “F-35 Joint Strike Fighter: Continued Oversight Needed as Program Plans to Begin Development of New Capabilities”. Also this month, the GAO summarized its results in testimony before Congress.
